Virtues guide our conduct according to the dictates of faith and reason leading us toward freedom based on self-control and toward joy in living a good moral life. You guessed it virtue is the existential perspective.
If America rejects this golden triangle the American way of life will cease to exist.
Virtue freedom and faith. The forgotten part of the framers solution may be called the enduring triangle of freedom. Freedom requires virtue virtue requires faith of some sort and faith requires freedom. Only so can a free republic hope to remain free.
Simply put Freedom requires Virtue. And Faith requires Freedom. And Freedom requires virtue and round and round it goes.
But why does freedom require virtue. Well because American freedom means self-government. And how are the people to govern themselves if they have no virtue.
The link between faith and virtue with freedom is so vital that it is shocking said Metaxas.
